每个孩子都是天才
Albert Einstein once said, “ Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.”Not every child is good at math. And being good at math does not automatically qualify one as a “genius”. It sure is handy to be able to do some quick mental math, but a person is not defined by the amount of time it takes them to solve an equation.
Albert Einstein really was a genius who truly understood what it meant to be “smart”. At Do-Re-Mi after school, our goal is to encourage our kids to find their “smart”.
Instead of constantly pushing kids to try to improve their weaknesses, we find their strengths and utilize them. Now some parents may ask, “So are you saying that if my child is bad at math and loves to draw, I should just let her drop out of school and become an artist?” NO! We’re saying, why not incorporate drawing into math time? Instead of sitting there staring at notecards to memorize math formulas, why don’t we draw a picture and try to work out a problem through pictures. Or for a child who is very musically talented, let’s make up a song to memorize the times tables!
There is more than one way to learn. There is more than one way to play.
As we go through life, we learn that there are more ways than one to accomplish something. Instead of limiting our children, we strive to discover different methods of learning and playing in order to broaden their learning potential. Here at Do-Re-Mi after school, we believe that every child “is a genius”.
爱因斯坦曾经说过，“每个人都是天才。但是，如果你通过看一条鱼爬树的本领判断它多聪明，那它一生都认为自己是一个愚蠢的动物。”
不是每个孩子都会数学很强。数学很强的孩子也不一定就是“天才”。虽然数学快速心算对生活很有帮助，但一个人不能被他的数学技能而定义。爱因斯坦真正明白了什么叫“聪明”。在Do-Re-Mi课后班，我们的目标是鼓励孩子们找到自己的“聪明”。
与其不断的让孩子尝试改善自己的弱点，不如我们鼓励他们发挥自己的长处。有些家长可能会问，“那么你是说，如果我的孩子数学差，喜欢画画，我应该让他辍学，成为一个艺术家？”不！我们是建议把画画和数学合并在一起！有些小孩坐在哪里盯着书本也背不出数学公式。为什么不让他画一幅画，并通过画画来发现数学答案？或为很有音乐才华的孩子，我们为什么不编一首歌来记乘法口诀表？
学习的方法不止一种。玩的方法也不止一种。当我们生活中，我们了解到不止一个方面有所建树。我们不必限制孩子们。我们努力探索不同的方法来扩阔他们的学习潜能。在Do-Re-Mi课后班，我们相信“每个人都是天才”。
-complete all homework(from school, Kumon, Chinese, etc)
-practice piano/violin(at least 3 times a week)
-rotating specials: language(Chinese), math games, science experiments, singing
*music lessons, ping-pong, art, and dance classes are all available within the shopping center
－帮助完成功课（学校，Kumon，中文）
－帮助练习钢琴／小提琴（一星期不少于三次）
－唱歌，练习中文，数学游戏，科学实验
＊音乐课，乒乓，画画，跳舞（局限在我们的shopping center)
