税表求助：AMT AND FILING STATUS

Hi,

I have a tax question for CPA or tax expert. Here is a simulated scenario:

if married filing jointly, then the joint return is subject to AMT.
if married filing separately, then husband's return is subject to AMT, and wife's is not, so all dependents are put on wife's return to maximize the exemptions. Is it legal to do that?
