China is not a Socialist Country

To be a socialist country, its political power must first be socialized, i.e. 1-person-1-vote democracy. China’s democracy died with the violent toppling of its democratic government in 1949. Its remnant survived and prospered only on the island country Taiwan, thanks to the sacrifice of American lives in Korea, and the generous military and economic assistance since..Next time someone calls China, ex-Soviet Union, ex-Eastern European Communist Dictatorship Countries or North Korea “Socialist Countries”, he/she is either lying to your face on purpose, or simply ignorant.

Socialism Elements

No purebred “Socialist Country” has ever existed in human history. Modern democracies differ on the level of “Socialization”, at the wills of the voters in each country. The most common “Socialized” elements are:

#1: K-12 Education

#2: Higher Education at Public Universities (partial in the US)

#3: Senior Healthcare (e.g. Medicare)

#4: Universal Healthcare (all developed countries, except USA)

#5: “Minimum Living Standard” Retirements (not in USA)

#6: “Minimum Living Standard”  Unemployment Benefits (not in USA)

#7: “Minimum Living Standard” Low Income Aids (not in USA)

#8: Public road system

#9: Public transportations (few in USA)

#10: Public Utilities

#11: Natural Resources: oil, minerals, forests, rivers, coastal sea, etc

“Socialization” is NOT “State Ownership”

Most “Socialized”, if not all, could be contracted to private individuals and companies:

#1: Public Education run by private schools, e.g. Charter school vouchers

#2: Medicaid / Medicare / Obamacare managed by private contractors & insurance companies, and provided by private doctors & hospitals

#3: Universal Healthcare  managed by private contractors & insurance companies, and provided by private doctors & hospitals

#4: Unemployment / Low Income Aids / Retirements managed by private contractors

#5: Public road system built and maintained by private contractors

#6: Public transportations run by private contractors

#7: Public Utilities built and maintained by private contractors

#8: Natural Resources: explored and managed by private companies

Taiwan is more “Socialist” than China

Politic apart, Taiwan has more “Socialized” elements than China today:

#1: 100% K-12 Universal Free Education

#2: 100% Free Higher Education at Public Universities

#3: 100% Universal Healthcare

#4: “Minimum Living Standard” Retirements

#5: 100% Non-profit public road system

Big Holes in American Socialism

We’ve come a long way in terms of “Socializing” many aspects of our “Great Society”. But in order to truly “Make America Great Again”, we must first plug a few big holes even the UK, our closest ally and the least “Socialist” among all developed countries, has already accomplished since the end of WWII, 7 decades ago. Merely print MAGA on a little red hat wouldn’t do.#1: Universal Healthcare#2: “Minimum Living Standard” Retirements#3: “Minimum Living Standard”  Unemployment Benefits#4: “Minimum Living Standard” Low Income Aids

Joe McCarthy against Joe Biden

With no plan and absolutely no desire to fix any of the problems listed above, the best way to cheat your way into the office is to “Red Smear” your opponent. McCarthyism  worked wonders 70 years ago, and it sure must work better today with help of powerful social media campaigns. After all, many people already live on social media islands and know nothing about reality outside the bubbles they now happily cocoon in.

For the rest of us who are well informed, next time some 1st gen immigrants blasting evil socialism they’d endured back in China, USSR, etc, please forgive their ignorance.

But if that 1st gen immigrant came from true “Socialist” Nordic countries such Denmark or Finland, listen up. We may learn a thing or two from the Nordic Model .

God bless the “United” States of America.
