Emory University 很窝囊么

           下面讨论去芝加哥大学还是这里的Emory大学的争论，让我很想说几句对爱茉莉大学的不解。

俺早年求学时候，对很多大学了如指掌，居然没有听说过爱莫瑞大学。按说，它一直在美国大学排名中不靠后，可是俺在西岸，东岸，中西部，那么多年，就是没人提起过。甚至来到南方后，也对爱莫瑞·大学没有任何·印象。后来，孩子长大，挑大学时候，俺跟着看看，还跑到爱末力大学校园看看，觉得大概就是个国内的市立大学的感觉吧。学校很小，有点钱。没多大学术影响。跟其他私立大学一样，商，法， 医学院好。文科还行。理科一般，根本没有工科。听有孩子在哪里的朋友说，怎么怎么不错，俺觉得，既然孩子在那里，自然说好么。

按说，排名在第17名，要超过很多公立大学了。俺觉得还不如乔州理工名气大啊·。

在亚城居住这么多年，没觉得它有什么影响。

为什么爱茉莉大学这么窝囊啊？

请·各位指点。

本来就是个暴发户大学， 又叫可乐大学。学术水平非常一般－除了医学院， 法学院， 商学院这些职业学院外， 根本无工科， 更无院士。

EMORY 被许多老中赏识主要因为医学院有几百多中国的廉价劳动力－ 技术员， 博士后， 学生。几乎每个实验室只要进去看看， 没有没有老中的：－）

话又说回来， EMORY 有些专业是非常非常好的， 象PA ( rank top 10 )， 公共卫生( top 9 ，BME ( top2, only after Jones Hopkins.

如果孩子可以上免费本科（ 父母一方在EMORY 工作十年， 且孩子上四年学其间仍在EMORY 工作）， 和乐而不为呢？ 如果没有BENIFITS， 其他排名好于EMORY的确实比EMORY 好很多， 舍EMORY 而上其他。

大学者， 在于大＂学＂， 不在于大楼。 EMORY 大学的确很小， 标志性建筑乏善可陈， 但他的绿化是全国最好的大学之一。

Is that you who did that? Being a technician is nothing wrong- just for surviving.

My point is that Emory University is a great school, although not greatest. Not that "窝囊" as someone would defined. Standford was long time ago considered a "窝囊" school because it was build with the fund provided by a couple who was refused the donation by Harvard. And look at Standford now. Emory is not as brandy as some top schools, but it is catching up. As far as I know, they hired a lot of talented people graduated from top schools such as U of Penn.

爱茉莉是很棒的大学，但也非常窝囊。就是因为在20名最好的大学中，它排最后， 前面有19位大哥大姐压着勒。你们说说是不是很窝囊。另外，与19位大哥大姐论名气，真的差不少。象人际关系，她注定要窝囊一辈子。

I wish Emory can do better, pushing itself up on the ranks of colleges in the US. It has the money, it can recruit talents, but what abut mentality? Does it has the ambition to become the top dog in the US? does it have the leadership that can accomplish ambitious goals? Or, it feels comfort being what it is now, care less about its popularity (not so well known).

Chinese working in Emory, is not focus

各位这么一说, 估计原来很多在Emory和其他大学之间摇摆不定的都不会偏向去Emory了。但愿Emory招生办没有懂中文的人！
