I have received a collection letter.
What had happen is last November, I lost my job. I have to move out an apartment earlier.
I have paid off all my rent. The leasing office want to collect earlier termination fee: $585 + moving special pay-back ($400) + 10 days rent ( $188).
The $400 special pay back is what they have added to lease the last minute before I signed the lease. At that moment, I have already declined other offers from other apartments. I didn't have other better choice but signed the lease. They said the 10 days additional rent is because I have moved out on Dec 10, but in fact I moved out on Dec 1 and I have turned in keys that day.
I don't want to affect my credit. My credit is excellent, but I want to stand for what is right. I want to pay what they deserve.
Credit Bureau suggested me to just pay. Otherwise it will go to my credit report. If I choose to dispute, that will also goes to my credit report and affect my credit even I am right. I wondered if that is true.
So what is the best thing I should do? |
