对此音乐有何感想 ?

I am a Java software developer, and I've always been interested in music, so many years ago I tried to create computer music, but at that time PCs were not sophisticated enough to generate rich music, now the time is right, so I'm trying again, this time I've created 4 albums : 3 of them were created 3 months ago [ in 3 consecutive days ], the last one was created early this month. I thought I've made some progress, but I'd like to hear what other people feel about the music generated by my Java program.

My own feeling is : the first 3 albums [ Ai Base Mutation ,  Ai Base Mutation+1 ,  Ai Base Mutation+2 ] have same drum beats, although different, they sound too similar, you might get bored quickly, even my friends think so too. The last album [ Ai Mutation ] has different style melodies in it, therefore more interesting. Bear in mind these melodies were 100% generated by computer, I haven't edited a single note. And the other fact is : I don't have professional musical training, I am NOT A MUSICIAN. That said, it's quite far I've gone.

I know every person's musical taste is different, I'd like to hear what most people have to say about them, so I can make improvements. If you don't like them please tell me why, if you do like them, tell me which ones and why, too.

What you did is a very good try. Everything starts from trying and it takes a while to get where you need to be. Now for me, they sound exciting for the first minute. However, since the melodies are very simular with their busy beats, the focus is lost. Your friend is probably right ^_^. I understand you are not a professional in music, but after all, a piece of good music need its soul. In another word, what does the music want to tell people about, what is the theme of the piece.

My humble two cents.

3楼 [ BlueSky ] : You are right on the target, "一言中的" ! I've been experimenting with my program and listening to the melodies it generates for a long time, sometimes I felt like I could see through the blue sky, but other times I was overshadowed by clouds. I know a melody is like a person, it needs to have a soul to be alive. The original intent of the program was to generate some dance music, and I have noticed a lot of background music in dance clubs are simple and repetitive. I wanted to avoid that, therefore I've, to an extent, injected some "soul" into the melodies, for instance "AI_Mutation_4" and "AI_Mutation_8" sound like someone is telling a story, "AI_Mutation_7" comes alive like someone is dancing and "AI_Mutation_2" reminds me of a famous melody decades ago about California or something [ I don't know it's name ]. Your observations definitely pointed me in the right direction, I've heard people mention the word "busy" before, and you pointed it out for me again.

Also, you have sharp ears, most melodies in my albums last 3+ minutes, only the first minute is original, then it repeats twice, that's the pattern. I might need to work on that too, so 2nd and 3rd part won't be an exact copy of the 1st part.

The very first time I contact this area and listen to java without certain or given theme or topic on computer. Yes, there seems to be no soul in some java music especially in some short ones, but I shoud say that that's what the difference java gives us from what you can get from topic music in usual days. That says, you can imagine what ever you want, the skatting, skiing,biking, snowing, the space, the stars...., and that is all what I am imagining in my brain when I listen just now, and I even want to stand up for a while from the computer trying to jump and dance while listening to the music if there is no others around me...
