护照--- 可怜 可悲 可恨

China needs to open a new consulate general in Atlanta. That's the win-win-win-win solution: good for residents in the southern states, good for Chinese government - getting to spend some excess dollars to buy properties for the location when real estate price is low, good for Chinese officials - quite a few more high-level diplomatic offices to fill/sell. good for the Chinese people, as the officials are exported to the U.S. and not staying home to mess with their lives.

不是一件容易的事。外交对等，中国在美国开一个领事馆，美国就要在中国开一个。据小道消息，中国想在亚特兰大开一个，美国却想在拉萨开一个，谈判搁浅了。

If indeed the U.S. wants to open a consulate in Lhasa, the Chinese government can milk that in its propaganda machines. The consulate serves as a constant reminder that the U.S. does recognize China's sovereignty over Tibet. Should be a good trade for Atlanta politically.

美国好像早已承认西藏是中国的一部分吧，就连达赖都承认。

出个主意：学生会不要再邀请领事来亚特兰大办证。费时、费力、还不讨好。既然有上千人需要办证，每人收手续费2美元，总数约3000美元 （按这次1500 人计）。学生会派热心人携带证件飞至休斯顿到领馆里办证，只要领馆帮忙，最多两天可办完。3000美元做为路费、住宿费、以及补助，合情合理。对于个人来说，花两美元免去一天的排队，还是划算的。

我认为最好的办法是采取网上预约。至于开设领事馆，看来不是个容易事，但能不能开个办公室呢？不需要它具备领事馆的所有功能，只是审查申请文件，就象上周六做的一样。

听了一下录像采访，大家不过说了些“非常感谢”的话。如果说这就是可悲的话，美国人可算是世界上最可悲的人了，因为他们每天都把：”Thank you very much“ 挂在嘴上。
