if possible would you list the required documents the INS needed just from your memory.

我为他们申请绿卡完全是好玩，结果成功了。如果你父母能不能申请到很重要，建议您还是请律师。

楼主如果想自己办，而且英文可以，所有你要问的程序、材料问题都可以在官方网页上找到：http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis

鉴于你父母已经在美国境内，你需要像老郭说的，先填I-130表确立你（美国公民）和你父母（申请人）之间的亲属关系，然后再填I-485申请转身份。填这些表都有说明书（网站上有），你就按照要求一步一步做吧。

需要的文件（及翻译成英文的公证）至少有：
- 能证明你是美国公民的材料；
- 能证明你和你父母之间的亲属关系的材料；
- 能证明你父母之间的婚姻关系的材料；
- 你的收入、财产等证明材料；
- 你父母的国内无犯罪记录证明材料；
- 你父母的体检、免疫方面的材料；
等等；

所有这些材料的要求都在I-130 和 I-485的说明书上列着。

如果嫌麻烦，那还是请个律师吧。

Not really have any bad impacts for green card application.  However, once green card application are submitted, they are not able to get visa to USA for visitation. You know why.  It is the best to let them try to apply for visa one more time before you submit green card application, there might be chances to get a visa and wait for green card in USA.  I think plan for a year of green card waiting time is reasonable.
