Don't panic!!!! I have being using the bank security box myself over 30 years. I have confident on the safety box security system. There is a lot of ways to trace what is going on.
1) Bank should has a big book in the safety room which contents record pages. Each page go with one safety box that records the day, the time, and the vistor's signature. - So ask bank to show you this record book
2) Normally, bank teller will check your ID and account to make sure you are the safety box owner or authorized access person before they even let you in the safety room. - If the bank does not follow up this procedure, the bank already do wrong!
3) After the person go into the safety room, a security camera is operating to record what is going on inside of safety room ( people don't open their safety box inside of safety room, therefore, the camera won't invade visitor's privacy to record while visitor open box and what is inside of visitor's box ). - Ask bank to review the security camera record during your last and this visit.
4) And the bank teller will write down the date and time the visitor goes in and ask visitor sign on the record sheet. Bank teller then will verify the signature to match the signature record. - Check who is the person signed before your final visit.
5) If everything correct, then the bank teller will ask for the key of the box ( what they told me is bank does not have any copy of this key. They gave you 2 copy of keys when you open the safety box account. And these are the only two copy of keys in the world for this box. That is why bank will charge you a big money to open the box if you loose them ). The box can't be opened unless both bank key and owner's key work together. - Think about who else has copy of this key in your friends and family. Do you still have both copy of keys in you hand?.
6) After bank teller takes the box out of cage and give it to the visitor, the visitor's key should be returned to visitor right away, so a bad bank teller has no chance to engrave visitor's key while visitor takes time go through the things in the box at different room. - If this step was missed last time, inform police what happen and a investigation might be needed on the bank teller who assist you last time (his/her name/signature should be on the record sheet also).
7) Of course, when visitor finishes what he/she needs to do, the key will be ask again to put the box back and a leaving time will be recorded down on the record sheet.
Step by step go through above procedures, see if you can find anything suspicious.
If not, think! think very hard! Do you by any chance empty the box yourself? |
