It should be 47% doesn't pay federal income tax.  SS and Medicare are not really taxes.  They are more like an insurance policy where you may get your money back at old age.  However, the system is flawed where younger people are paying for the older people and the high wage earners paying for the low wage earners. If you study the payment schedule, you would find the payout is heavily tilted toward low wage earners.  So the poor actually getting a good deal out of it.

.......

If SS is not a tax, could you elect to not pay it? Of course, the poor do get more than they paid from SS and the middle class (especially, the middle class with $100K salary or so) contribute a lot to it and only get a small portion back.

SS is a wellfare TAX that middle class paid for poor  when the Rich do not contribute!! The income Gap for SS should be removed! I voted for Obama last time mainly because he said he would remove the GAP. I do not blame to him because I know those rich  and Republic would not allow him to do so.

He has paid every cent he is legally reqired and extra for 2011 (read his released tax form, he did claim deductiion for his charitable donation).  I am sure IRS has already audited him if he didn't.  the question about his rate is fair or not is up for debate.  But he didn't 偷税 as you charged unless you can provide any evidence.

He actually paid more than he owned. He did not deduct his full Charity donation. He paid less rate than us legally.

However, if he hept his own word, he is NOT qualified for Presidency of US.

He has said: "I paid every penny of tax I owned. If I pay more than I own, I would not qualify for Presidency". Please remember, that is his own words!! Now, to make his 2011 tax return does not look too bad, he paid more than he owned. What a joke!

Yes, rich, more precisely higher wage earners > $100k since rich is defined by asset not income, paid the same as those who earned $100K.  However, they get the same pay check as those who earned $100K, no more extra benefit.  Why should people who earned their money hard way (these are all earned income, not investment income) be forced to pay for other people's benefit?  is this not wealth distribution or 社会主义?

Yes, our government forced you to pay for these taxes.  That's why you should demand our government not to force you into it instead of asking the government to tax more to fill the gap!

So until SS/Med are treated like regular insurance with reasonable assurance, stop saying "lower 47% not paying any taxes"! When you compare how much people get back from SS/Med taxes, you are talking like they are actually TAX,  because how much you can get back from insurance all depends on your luck (or lack of it), not on expectation.

Don't pick and choose "facts" to your advantage.

The Election Poll shows  Obama 持高不下,Romney    很难逆转。
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Obama Within Reach of Second Term
Associated Press - 09/30/2012

Five weeks to Election Day, President Barack Obama is within reach of the 270 electoral votes needed to win a second term. Republican Mitt Romney's path to victory is narrowing. To overtake Obama, Romney would need to quickly gain the upper hand in nearly all of the nine states where he and Obama are competing the hardest.

Polls show the president with a steady lead in many of them as Romney looks to shift the dynamics of the race, starting with their first debate Wednesday in Denver. If the election were held today, an Associated Press analysis shows Obama would win at least 271 electoral votes, with likely victories in crucial Ohio and Iowa along with 19 other states and the District of Columbia. Romney would win 23 states for a total of 206.
