Starting January 1, 2012 $51.5 million was available.  As of May 25th, 2012 $27,019,793 remains available to be pre-approved for 2012.

·         $24,480,207 has already been approved for 2012

·         This balance of approved credits was hit in late August 2011, but the actual amount of $27 Million remaining in available credits wasn’t achieved until September 2011

"I believe the donation would actual increase your Federal income tax if you use itemized deduction. Itemized deduct include the State Tax you paid. For instance, if you donated $2000 in 2011 and your state income tax is $10000, after the Credit of $2000, you paid State Tax of $8000. So you can only deduct $8000 from your federal income for the state tax instead of $10000. If you actually get a State tax refund, you will need to add your refund as your income in 2012."

　
I agree your opion. If I am not wrong, you have to pay extra $800 tax if your taxable income is $80,000.

I don't know anyone paying $10,000 state tax.  If you do, you want the state decide for you where the $10000 will spend? Or you want to take charge and support education?  Also, did you count $2000 extra donation can help your fed. Income tax deduction?
