Please notice, artistic view is very subjective and regional specific. It's normal for Chinese here not appreciate western art.
I applause LZ's effort and achievement. But, personally, I prefer new furniture over used.

这不过是颜色，个人喜好问题，至于上升到什么artistic view, 什么 Chinese here not appreciate western art.？

咱也觉得原来的颜色好。卧室么，白花花的颜色偏冷，不显温馨。
楼主可能偏理性之人，所以偏好冷色？

这柜子的原木看上去像是birch-桦木，这种木纹路不太好看，档次不高。所以楼主把它重新涂成antique 的效果，实在是高。看来楼主不但是个勤快的地主婆，还是个有品味的地主婆。

地主婆喜欢这种东西，为啥不去买那种美国红橡木自己做柜子什么的，国内有个网站“木工爱好者”论坛，不过自己加工过有成就啊！
