They were the fighters to keep their status legal to stay here by doing whatever they could. If they truly loved their daughter, why they refused to accept the child when Baker's family sent her back the first time? someone may argue that because they were poor. We Chinese always say "狗不嫌家贫" but what if it is the other way around?

This is 9楼 回 15楼. Do you know what means "Indecency parent" and what means "Dis-functional family"? They have nothing to do with rich or poor. If they loved the child, how could they had to fight for custodian rights from another family from first place?
