I listened to NPR all the time and heard that conversation while driving. My impression was that he genuinely reget people misunderstood his intention. My thoughts on this. He did like the music because he was proud of being an accomplished Chinese, but even he may know the background information of this music, he did not think too much of it because it is irrelevant based on his life experience. If he knew, he would not choose this piece at all.
I don't know much about him except NPR play his music once a while. However, after the conversation, I feel I don't like him very much because I feel he is not very honest in saying that he does not know any background information about this music. He could say he knew, but felt it was irrelevant. Like another post said, be a man, stick to who you are. |
