How about if somebody seized one of the following domains on the routine to www.atlanta168.com (69.174.48.50)?

The TCP/IP protocol is not that sample as you describe. 'Connect to a website' is a logical concept which does not exist in networking. 'Connect to a website' means send/recieve data to/from a server which host website/web service. The data will travel in form of packages and reach the destination in an optimized path( tracert www.websitename.com will show you). But the things are: Frist the packages isnt delivered in sequence. Second the packages could in large numbers. Third, there is check sum and error handling. If you want sniff someone's web browsing traffic, you need professional equipments and also you need to have a very good understanding of the HyperText Transfer Portocol. Since the information transfered from my machine to remote server is not simple human languages, like the way walkie talkie works. There will be lots of control and applcation data along with the actually request/response content travel back and forth in a large number of scattered packages. Thats why you need network adapter which translate data to in physics form to logic data form which the application runs on your computer can understand, then the application process the data and present you the information that you can read. Think about this complicity and tell me how an agent could generally censor/sniff everyone's activiy on internet in detail. let me use floor 51's example, your ISP could easily collect information about which site you have been visiting. but it is very time consuming and expensive to collect information about exactly what you are doing on internet. unless they sniff your traffic on purpose because you have done something that worth them to do so. The spirite of internet is freedom and sharing, it also means "viewer's discretion advised" !! You believe what you think is true and you walk away from what you think is fake. |
