在美国有人害死了人，除了凶手会被State or Federal Government 检察官进行刑事起诉（criminal  lawsuit）外，许多死者家属也会对凶手家等控以民事责任起诉（civil  lawsuit）。

刑事起诉决定被告杀人罪是否成立，如成立还要决定量刑。但刑事起诉最多是判杀人罪成立，被告被判个死刑、无期、或有期徒刑，等等，而且刑事起诉的定罪必须是检察官的证据"beyond a reasonable doubt.

民事责任起诉则没有牢狱之祸，只论金钱赔偿。陪审团只要认为证据大概可信就可以判决赔偿。

当年 O.J. Simpson 的案子就是最好的例子：OJ 的律师成功地为他免除了刑事起诉杀人罪，但他输了民事责任起诉官司。

My company offers a Matching Gifts Program to recognize individual support of education, environment, arts, or cultural institutions with 501(c)(3) tax exampt status. The program matches the gift on a 2-for-1 basis. For example, a $100 contribution to an eligible organization would result in a $200 match.

I am thinking if the foundation is for education, it might be qualified.
