I am an independent; I favor GOP's fiscal policies but not its social policies. So I always voted for Dems before. However, this year, it is a difficult decision. We have a social list president who makes redistribution of wealth as his top priority. He ran up so much deficit which makes Bush's deficit like a child's play. Romney is from New England. Just look how many GOP who are from New England are not moderate in social policy and fiscally conservative, like Olypia Snowe, Susan Collins? That's why it will be my first time to vote for a republican as the president.
Regarding the social issue, I also disagree with some of the Democratic Party's policy. Affirmative action is one of them. When I see my kids applying to college, I see first hand the discremitory nature of the affirmative action. Also, Democratic Party spends way too much money to support those lazy able people with welfare. I agree that we, as a society, need to help the old, the disabled. However, we shouldn't help those who are physically strong but lazy. If a Mexican illegal immigrant can survive in this country, a lot of welfare recipients should be able to do the same!
A failed fiscal policy will have a much bigger impact than a failed social policy. It is much harder to get out of deep debt, just see social lism Europe as an example. Yes, we should let gay to get married, allow women the right to choose abortion, and equal opportunity for women, but, these thing will change overtime. I am sure 10-20 years from now; gays will be able to marry anywhere. Abortion will still be permitted in this country. Just see how far we have come since the 60s. But, if we ever owe too much money to our creditors, we will be enslaved to pay back them. Our children will suffer! That's why voting for a moderate New Englander is a better choice that a social ist Obama from liberal Chicago. |
