Since we use RAW to keep the images, it gives the shooter the freedom to take control of digital darkroom. Sometimes, minimalism in PS is strongly enouraged and emphasized. When one new technology takes over the old one, there is bound to be an old/new cultural conflict and struggle. Your opinion is not that outlandish at all. Having said that, we can certainly have a healthy debate as to why digital and PS should reign supreme in the coming dacades.

BTW: the mist is not articial, it is entirely natural. If you visit Chatthoochee River in the winter often, you will notice the heavy fog shrouding the river body and lingers on for hours before the sun finally disperses it.
