吃了traffic ticket怎么办?

前两天, 开车出门左拐时不慎与左边的车相撞. 万幸的是人没事. 我吃了一张ticket (failure to yield), 上面有出庭的时间. 我有一些问题:
1)    这张罚单是否要签字后寄回? 驾照也一起寄去吗?
2)    如果交了罚金是否还要出庭?
3)    如何知道罚多少点数?
4)    上庭申辩减小罚金和免点是否可行?

以后开车一定要小心了.

1. 不用寄出，千万不要将驾照寄出。
2. 或许在两、三周内或者出庭之前，你会收到具体罚单，上面会有款项。如果没有，几周后可打电话询问罚金。交款后不用出庭。
3. 记3点。
4. 听说可以免点，但似乎会增加罚金作为交换。

If you just mail the check,  your point will be deducted and you will have a record in your driving  history (insurance company will see that and increase your premium).

So you better go and appear in front of the court,  they generally will offer you something like no point dedcution and no driving record.  But under the current economy, the court  procecutor or judge will not reduce your refine unless you have a very strong case.

我的建议（我不是律师）：
1)    这张罚单是否要签字后寄回?  - 不用签， 应该在网上就可以付。驾照也一起寄去吗? - no
2)    如果交了罚金是否还要出庭?   - 如果交了罚金就不要上法庭出庭了
3)    如何知道罚多少点数? - call 他们
4)    上庭申辩减小罚金和免点是否可行?  - yes

你如果想交錢了事，過二個星期左右按罰單後面的電話打去問要交多少錢，你交錢就得了，但會留下案底。
你如果想出庭，按出庭的日期時間去，在庭上你有三個選擇：認罪，不認罪，和申請不留案底，但要多交錢（有錢能使鬼推磨）。
